So, I don't have any pictures of this because I was just one stressed Mama throughout this whole ordeal, but I do want this to go down in the books.
Last week Claire and Dallin went for a bike ride and they ran into one of Dallin's friends loading his two children into a drift boat to float down the river. He invited them to go with them but Dallin had to work. Claire was very upset that she didn't get to go, so I reluctantly told her that maybe this weekend we could rent a kayak and go float somewhere. Saturday rolled around and we went and rented a double kayak...and they had an infant life jacket! I thought, "Great! We can all go now!"
We loaded everybody up and shuttled vehicles around and pushed off into the Salmon River. Yes, yes I know. I did load my one year old and three year old into a kayak to float the Salmon River. There might be some of you that are thinking, "So what?" But there is another some of you that are thinking, "You are crazy!" I think I was crazy and I am claiming that Dallin slipped me something in my drink that made my judgement impaired. The first 30 minutes of the trip, Kate cried and cried and cried. I don't think that she liked the life jacket...at all! We pulled off and took a break. Then later, she finally fell asleep. It was pretty uneventful then once we got past Salmon there was this little section that had some pretty big rapids. Now, if I was by myself they probably would not have been too bad, but I had my precious little ones and those rapids scared me to death. I had Claire in the front with me between my legs and when we went over those rapids the tip of our kayak went under the wave along with my Claire. When we popped back up she was crying...a little. More like moaning. I just kept saying, "Claire! We made it!" After that it was pretty uneventful. She will tell you that she had fun floating the river but does not want to do it again. I am so glad that we made it home safe. I don't think I will be doing that again any time soon.

Wow! Sounds like crazy/fun! :) I know...everything is no big deal until the littlies are involved. Then suddenly, it becomes terrifying! I agree!
Wow! I laughed so hard when I read this i could hardy contain myself. It brought back memories of a "family float" we once took in Island park with the Judy clan. If you ever need a Kayak just holler. We have 5 of them now. (don't ask why we have 5 kayaks because i do not have a good reason) Love ya Melissa
