If you have not heard Jen and I spent this weekend in the hospital having our baby girl Claire. On saturday morning Jen called me at work and said she was starting to have contractions. I decided to go home and when I did it was a good thing because her water had broke. We debated on going to the hospital with Jen remaining suprisingly calm and she decided it was time. When we drove the 100 yards to the hospital and got her on the fetal monitor, we found out she was already dilated to a 7. She was having good strong contactions and our doctor asked her about pain managment. She decided she was okay and would not get a intra-thecal. They do not give epiderals in Salmon. I got to help draw her blood and get things ready to start an IV. When it was time to push Jen did a really good job and the nurse and doctor joked about her being an asian lady because she was so qiuet and tolerating things so well. By now it was too late to get a intra-thecal so Jen was going to have this baby all natural. Which I thought was crazy and thought she should at least have a good shot of Jack Daniels and a biting stick I don't think she thought that was very funny. Jen ended up pushing for a little over two hours and I was given the job of holding her legs and giving her ice in her mouth to cool her off. She was exhausted by the end and they put her on oxygen by the end. I got to cut the cord and help take the baby to the nursey to get weighed and measured. The doctors and nurses were so nice and we knew them well from working with them. It was nice to be in the hospital they all did a fantastic job and we truly felt at home and the people of Salmon have all gone out of there way to help us out it has been amazing.
