Natural Yeast

So my mother in law got me a pet for my birthday. I named her Betty. She is very low maintenance. I only have to feed her twice a week. I don't have to walk her or pick up her poop in the yard. She doesn't dig holes under my fence, or drag deer legs into the yard, or leave me regurgitated mice on my doorstep. My pet is called Natural Yeast, and yes I named her Betty. By far the best pet I have ever owned.
Natural yeast is supposed to be more healthy for you compared to the yeast you buy in the grocery store. Did you know that they make the yeast you buy in the store in a lab? I didn't. I guess I never thought about it before. I don't know where I thought it came from. Essentially Natural yeast is just going back to how people made breads for thousands of years that did not have a store to buy it in.
It doubles in size after every feeding so I have to use it frequently or throw some away. I don't have the heart to throw her away so hopefully I can keep up with utilizing her frequently. I am scheduled to feed her tomorrow so I got to make some banana nut muffins today. Mmmm. mmm.

Sam's Blessing

Sam's blessing was on March 17th. It was a great day. Thanks to all our family who made the trek up to Salmon. It was a long drive for everyone. Kendra (Dallin's grandma), Kent and Karen (Dallin's mom and dad), my mom and Dale, Lisa, Matthew, Shane and Diana and their family were all there. We rented a room at the Sacajawea Center for the dinner after because our house is not very accommodating for a large group of people. In the blessing Dallin said that Sam was blessed with a good mother and blessed him that he would follow the example of Claire, Kate, and me. He blessed him that he would have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was so good to see everyone!

Preschool Pal

So, Claire has made a new best friend in preschool. Her name is Alexis. The sad part to this story is that Alexis is moving to Florida today! We are so sad that she is moving. Claire is sad too and has had to make some new friends. She is such a likeable girl that she won't have any problems with that. We had a few play dates before they left and also celebrated Alexis' birthday so that Claire could go to her party. The party was at the Bowling Alley. Claire said her favorite part of the party was watching Alexis opening her presents.
This is how Sam spent the play date

A Spring Snow

So, much to my dismay we woke up to big snowflakes. Even though we are so excited for spring to be here we couldn't help but still be a little excited for hopefully the last snow of the winter season. The kids couldn't help themselves; they had to go out and play in it.
Kate' face cracks me up!

Smiling Sam

This was my sweet baby Sam trying to fall asleep.
Then sisters thought it would be fun to join in the picture and after being sat on Sam woke up!

I love Claire's smile in this picture.
Today I am so pleased that I caught Sam's smile on camera. Some of them are blurry...sorry. Isn't he just so cute! It melts my heart when he smiles. Yesterday he kind of laughed too.

Rainbow Bread

This is what we did today. We made Rainbow Bread for our FHE treat tonight. I found it on Pinterest and I already had a piece with honey butter on it and man was it delicious! I will probably make sandwiches with it like they suggest. How fun is that!? Here is the website if anyone wants to check it out.

How Sammy Sleeps

This has been Sam's bed for the last 7 weeks. He spits up everything he eats if we lay him down flat so he is a car seat sleeper. I think it looks cozy. I wish I had something that size for me to sleep in.

Oh, What Do We Do in the Winter Time?

I know that I am not the best Mom in the world and here is one of the reasons why. My children pretty much lived in front of the tv all winter. We occasionally wandered outside after putting snow clothes on for about an hour for a good ten minutes of fun, but the majority of the time was watching movies. We would vary the situation of the movie watching so that it seemed a little different and more fun i.e watching in a fort. This day the kids thought it was great fun to watch the movie in their sleeping bags.
