So, I stumbled upon a recipe here that is for how to make your own laundry detergent. I made it today. I have not used it yet but the smell alone might have me converted. That cheese looking substance is not cheese but is hand grated Fels Naptha bar soap. You can also use Pink Zote. I could not find Pink Zote here in Salmon so Fels Naptha it is. I've never been excited to do laundry before now. I'll let you know how it smells and washes.
And, just for the record...I think I have given up on cloth diapering. I didn't mind washing them at all, but I could not get over how bulky they are. I might find myself using them every once in a while, but probably not very often. Oh, well...now I know...I gave it a whirl. Sorry environment.

Interesting. You'll have to tell me how it goes.
Is it cheaper than buying detergent?
Is it better for the clothes?
Does it smell good?
What are the pros and cons?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Cathy said it all...Can't wait for the update. Take care!
we make our own soap too but our recipe just says buy a bar of whatever soap you want so I buy the dove brand that has a rose on it....too funny. you're crazy for using cloth diapers. I love the earth but there are some things that god was kind enough to have invented and disposable diapers are one of them lol! miss you guys!!!
i use cloth diapers, it's called the pant my kid is wearing when the disposable diaper can't hold it all back. :)
now i may need some of your laundry soap!!
I've been thinking about making my own laundry soap too. I want to hear how it turns out too. My recipe is pretty close to yours except I was planning on using Dr. Bronner's Castile soap instead of the Fels.
